Fish Pantry

Who

we are

In 1984, the Archbold Fish chapter was started by three ladies who had been in Bible study together.  They were studying the importance of putting faith into practice, and those ladies were challenged to do just that.  With the help of the Archbold Area Ministerial Association, many individuals, other churches, and businesses in the community, Fish has been effectively serving those in need in the Archbold community.  Although Archbold Fish started with just a phone line and helping with rent, utilities, gasoline, and prescriptions, it later became apparent that there was a need for a food pantry as well.  The food pantry was opened in 1993 to help both the “working poor” as well as those in crisis situations.  Today the pantry serves about 100 Archbold households each month.

The Archbold Fish Pantry is a 501(c)3 non-profit agency that is overseen by a 10-member board of directors.  Day-to-day operations are the responsibility of the pantry coordinator.

Mission statement: It is the goal of the Archbold Fish Pantry to assist low-income Archbold families on a short-term basis, particularly those in a crisis situation, and share God’s love and grace with all.

What

we do

Who does the Archbold Fish Pantry help?

Individuals or families living within the Archbold school district or Individuals or families with an Archbold mailing address or Individuals or families who regularly attend a church that supports the Archbold Fish Pantry

What type of help is given?

  1. The food pantry is available for individuals and families who meet the above guidelines.  They may receive food from the pantry once each month.
  2. The emergency phone line is available for crisis situations, such as help with rent, electric, gas, prescriptions, etc.  The pantry is limited as to how much we can help financially, and we are short-term assistance only. If long-term help is needed, we do our best to provide names and phone numbers of agencies that may be able to provide help.

Food pantry distribution days:

2nd Tuesday of the month from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
3rd Tuesday of the month from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm

How

can you help?

The pantry is completely reliant on donations from the community.  Each month an area church takes a turn collecting canned goods for the pantry, and the pantry is able to purchase high demand items in bulk with financial contributions.

You can also donate canned goods by calling 419-445-0366 to arrange a pick up or delivery time.

All unexpired items are willingly accepted, but high demand items are:  Flour, sugar, canola oil, 1 lb bags of rice, refried beans, pancake mix, pancake syrup, shampoo, paper towels, toilet paper.

Financial contributions should be mailed to:
Archbold Fish Pantry
PO Box 5
Archbold, OH  43502

Volunteer opportunities:

The pantry is always in need of volunteers to help bag groceries on pantry days, register guests, unload deliveries, and restock shelves.  If you are interested in volunteering, please call 419-445-0366.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
